Jason Holt is on loan away from Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers.

Jason Holt of Rangers vies with Jason Cummings of Hibernian during the Scottish Championship match between Hibernian and Rangers at Easter Road on April 20, 2016 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Rangers fans on Twitter are criticising Jason Holt.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who joined Fleetwood Town on loan from Rangers in the summer, played the full 90 minutes of this afternoon’s 0-0 draw with Walsall.

Holt, signed by former Gers boss Mark Warburton in 2015, missed a good chance for his side in the first half, firing over the crossbar.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard elected to loan him out during the summer, and some fans of the Ibrox club cannot see him coming back any time soon.

Holt is a decent player, but there’s where it stops and ‘decent’ isn’t enough at Rangers anymore.

Gerrard has a whole host of excellent midfield players and, simply put, Holt isn’t better than any of them.

That being said, attitude and application go a long way. Just ask Andy Halliday, who was expected to follow Holt out of the door at Ibrox, but the 27-year-old still plays regularly under Gerrard, even if it’s not always from the start.

Jason Holt of Rangers tracked by James Forrest of Celtic during the Betfred Cup Semi-Final match between Rangers and Celtic at Hampden Park on October 23, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.
