Glasgow Rangers will be without Jamie Murphy for the rest of the season, and some fans want Steven Gerrard to bring a replacement to Ibrox.

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Steven Gerrard confirmed on the club’s official website that Jamie Murphy will miss the rest of the season due to the knee injury that he sustained at Kilmarnock at the weekend.
Murphy has featured regularly since arriving on loan in January, remaining a key man following his permanent move ahead of Gerrard’s first season in charge at Ibrox.
However, he will have to watch the rest of the campaign from the sidelines. The club have confirmed on their official website that the knee ligament injury that he sustained on the artificial pitch at Rugby Park has ruled him out until the summer.
Unsurprisingly, the news has been met with a huge amount of disappointment from the fans on social media, with many suggesting that Rangers not having Murphy in the ranks should force Gerrard to make a move for a winger in the market.

The Daily Express recently hinted that Killie’s Jordan Jones – who featured in the weekend’s game – could become a target while it was unknown how long Murphy could be out for, and it appears that many of the supporters would be behind a pursuit of the Northern Ireland international.
Jones is one of the more exciting players in the division, and some clearly feel that he would be the ideal man to replace Murphy in these circumstances. Though others have suggested that youngster Glenn Middleton should be handed a chance to prove himself.
