However, despite playing the entire second period with 10 men, a late goal from Alfredo Morelos saw off the Armenian minnows.
The South American was on hand to turn home after a ball over the top of the Alashkert defence from James Tavernier.
Hagi caught the eye with his display. The Romanian was in sparkling form, providing much-needed energy and creativity in the second half.
Keeping Hagi is important for Rangers
Last season was an outstanding campaign for the club, especially the Romania international.
He was one of the key creators for Steven Gerrard’s men with 11 assists as they lifted the Scottish Premiership title.
There have been some reports linking the attacker with a move to Lazio and Sevilla, according to the Daily Record. However, any departure would be devastating for the Scottish giants.
After his display versus Alashkert, Rangers should be looking to keep Hagi in the little time that remains in the window.
