Steven Gerrard’s Rangers were dumped out on Thursday, ensuring no further European games at Ibrox this season.

Rangers’ Europa League dream died at the hands of Rapid Vienna on Thursday, with Steven Gerrard’s side on the receiving end of a 1-0 defeat in Austria.
Rangers needed three points of their own to ensure progression to the knock-out stage, but Dejan Ljubicic’s late strike sent the hosts through instead.
Gerrard made seven changes to the side that failed to beat 10-man Dundee on Sunday, and one of those did little to convince the following Gers fans he is worthy of keeping his place longer-term.
This is what they’re saying on Twitter about the player in question, Gareth McAuley…
Peter Keay @Pedrokeay1: Seriously get McAuley to **** he’s total garbage! #RangersFC #rapran
Mike Oldcorn @MikeOldcorn: Gareth McAuley is a ******* bomb scare
@Martyn7i: Coulibaly and Mcauley can get to **** man, empty ******* jerseys
ㅤ. @Laffxrty: McAuley is ******* *****
Rangers’ result continued what had already been a bumpy 24 hours for the club, in which the futures of loan players Umar Sadiq and Ovie Ejaria were thrown into doubt.
Gerrard has already sanctioned the early termination of Sadiq’s deal (Sun) and will need to talk Ejaria into staying the full length of his (Daily Record).
Remarkably, Rangers’ loss was only their second in 14 games in this season’s competition, including qualifiers.
