The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, is said to want him at Ibrox.

Graeme Shinnie of Aberdeen strikes on goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Aberdeen and Motherwell at Pittodrie Stadium on April 3, 2019 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Rangers fans are reacting on Twitter to reports one of Steven Gerrard’s alleged summer targets could be set to transfer elsewhere.

Graeme Shinnie was strongly linked with a free transfer move to Rangers earlier in the season (Express), following his former Aberdeen teammate, Ryan Jack, to Ibrox.

But according to BBC Sport, the Dons utility player is now in talks with the English Championship side Derby County.

Shinnie’s contract expires this summer and several other clubs have been credited with interest in signing him.

And while there is still time for his destiny to change, excitement is growing among some of a Rangers persuasion that his next club won’t be them.

This is what they’re saying…

Rangers have already kicked off their 2019/20 recruitment drive with the free transfer signing of the Kilmarnock winger, Jordan Jones.

A proposed move for the Motherwell wide man, Jake Hastie, however, is rumoured to have fallen through (Herald).
