Rangers fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking Ibrox star David Bates with a move to Sunderland.

Sunderland are interested in signing Bates from Rangers in the January transfer window, according to The Daily Record.

It has been reported that the Championship club in England are set to make a move for the central defender this month.

The 21-year-old former Raith Rovers centre-back’s current contract with Rangers runs out at the end of the season, according to The Daily Record.

The report has also claimed that discussions between Bates, his representatives and Rangers over a new contract are going on, with the youngster claimed to be keen on extending his current deal.

Bates joined Rangers in the summer of 2016 on loan from Raith Rovers and made the move permanent in January 2017.

The youngster is playing well at the moment and has established himself as an important player for Graeme Murty’s side.
