Glasgow Rangers suffered a disappointing Scottish Cup defeat at Ibrox on Tuesday.

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Daniel Candeias’ performance during the Gers’ Scottish Cup defeat on Tuesday night – with several suggesting that it is time to look at replacing the Portuguese.
Steven Gerrard’s side squandered the chance to book their place in the semi-final of the competition as they were beaten 2-0 by Aberdeen at Ibrox, with Niall McGinn and Connor McLennan scoring either side of the break.
The defeat looks set to be a key moment in Gerrard’s tenure with Rangers. Realistically, the Scottish Cup represented the Gers’ best chance of securing silverware this season with eight points separating the side from the Scottish Premiership summit.
The loss is perhaps an indicator of where Rangers’ current squad falls short. And it is clear by some of the fan reaction on social media that Candeias is one player whose position should be called into question.

The winger has been a fantastic signing for Rangers. No attacking player has made more league appearances than the 31-year-old this term, but there was a moment in Tuesday’s tie when he squandered a glorious opening that could have led to Ryan Kent or Alfredo Morelos bagging the equaliser.
Candeias was played in down the right flank and simply needed to slide the ball into Morelos or Kent as they ran into the box. And yet, he decided to try and be a bit too cute with the ball in and ended up overhitting a cross that went out for a throw on the other flank.
