Glasgow Rangers ran out 3-1 winners this weekend but one player did little to impress after coming off the bench.
It is fair to say that summer signing Carlos Pena has not endeared himself to the Rangers faithful just yet, and his second-half cameo against Ross County on Sunday left a lot to be desired.
The 27-year-old has managed just one other appearance since arriving at Ibrox earlier this summer and his 25-minute outing in the 3-2 defeat to Hibernian was equally uninspiring.
After spending the games against Motherwell and Hearts as an unused substitute, Pena replaced Niko Kranjcar on Sunday and set about making up for lost time. Unfortunately for the 19-capped Mexico international, it did not work.
Rangers won courtesy of two goals from Alfredo Morelos and one from Eduardo Herrera, who made a lot more of his chance from the bench.
The campaign is long and Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha will know that some of his new additions will take longer to settle than others.
The issue for Pena is that if he does not get over his early-season jitters sooner rather than later, he could find himself well down the pecking order with Rangers possessing plenty of midfield options this season.
He now has the international break to put things right on the training field, before Rangers take on Dundee on 9 September.
