Former Ibrox striker Ally McCoist recently said that Glasgow Rangers fans would accept Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley back.
Rangers fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to Ally McCoist’s recent comments about the Gers and Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley.
The Daily Record has quoted former Rangers striker and manager McCoist as saying that the club’s fans would accept it if Newcastle owner Ashley re-invested in the Gers.
The English businessman sold his remaining Rangers shares to fan group Club 1872 and businessman Julian Wolhardt back in June 2017, as reported by The Daily Record.
Ashley is currently trying to sell Premier League club Newcastle, as reported by The Independent.
McCoist recently said that Rangers fans would get behind the English businessman if he retuned to the Gers.
The Daily Record recently quoted McCoist as saying: “I think that the fans would get behind anyone that will come in and invests in the club.
“Obviously Dave King would have a major say in that because he is still currently there, I genuinely don’t think that there is a massive ill feeling towards Mike Ashley.
“I think what Mike Ashley was attempting to do at Rangers was make the best of a situation for himself which, for a businessman, he has done throughout his life.
“I think there’s a lot of the Rangers support that would welcome somebody coming in with finance who would want to invest in the team and the club.”
Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to McCoist’s remarks.
Rangers are third in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 40 points from 22 matches.
Graeme Murty’s side are just three points behind second-placed Aberdeen and as many as 11 points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic.
