Rangers are likely to be in the market for a new striker this summer – but much will depend on the future of Alfredo Morelos.
If Morelos leaves, Rangers will surely push to sign a big-name striker to replace him. If Morelos stays, then finding a third-choice striker will become the priority.
In January, Rangers chose to bring in Hibernian striker Florian Kamberi for that role. With Jermain Defoe injured, Kamberi arrived on loan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old made a decent impact at Ibrox. With one goal and two assists in nine games, Kamberi certainly did himself no harm in pursuit of a permanent move.
As things stand, he heads back to Hibernian this summer with his future unclear – and Rangers now have a decision to make over whether to sign him full-time.
The Daily Record report this week that Hibernian would be willing to sell Kamberi for just £150,000 this summer. Steven Gerrard is thought to be interested, but Rangers are waiting to see who else becomes available.
Hull City are believed to have made two bids, which have been rejected, and that should be warning enough that Rangers could miss out if they don’t move quickly.
Rangers fans have been taking to Twitter after learning the asking price, believing that the fee is an ‘absolutely bargain’ and a ‘no brainer’.
Gers supporters urged the club to ‘get it done’, telling them to snap Hibernian’s hands off for such a low-cost deal.
