Glasgow Rangers suffered a hugely disappointing defeat, but the Ibrox faithful were thankful to one of their players.

Rangers interim manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and St Johnstone at Ibrox Stadium on December 16, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers suffered another hugely disappointing loss on Saturday as Graeme Murty’s tenure as permanent Rangers boss saw Kilmarnock come from behind to win 2-1 and leave the Gers 11 points off the Scottish Premiership leaders.

Murty was given the job until the end of the season during the week. And while the Light Blues’ performance seemed to be below-par for much of the contest at Rugby Park, it appeared that the visitors may still come away with the three points as Declan John gave them a lead that they would hold onto until the final 13 minutes.

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd would score twice however, and Murty will now spend Christmas largely wondering what he can do to ensure that the Gers do not make it three defeats on the spin when they host Motherwell this coming Wednesday.

One thing that Murty must certainly not do is consider dropping Wes Foderingham, as the Gers fans were full of praise for the goalkeeper on social media after his performance against Killie.

Wes Foderingham of Rangers looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers FC and Celtic FC at Ibrox Stadium on September 23, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Foderingham made a number of saves throughout the game, and was certainly not helped by some lacklustre defending in front of him, especially for Kilmarnock’s equaliser when Boyd managed to get into the six-yard box ahead of David Bates, while Lee Hodson failed to keep the cross from coming in.

A number of fans have suggested that the stopper was the one player who emerged from the game with any credit, and many believe that he prevented the score from becoming embarrassing.
