Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is reportedly considering bringing Stewart Downing to Ibrox.

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from Teesside Live last week which suggested that Steven Gerrard is keen to sign Stewart Downing in the summer.
After a largely encouraging campaign, the Gers now need a miraculous comeback to end the season with silverware, with 10 points separating Gerrard’s men from the summit of the Scottish Premiership.
Their recent form has provided a timely reminder of the work that needs to be done to the squad over the summer. There is the depth within Gerrard’s ranks, but they arguably need a little more quality in certain areas of the field.
Out wide may not be a priority for most fans, but it appears that Gerrard has his eye on landing another winger. Teesside Live reports that the Rangers boss wants to sign Downing on a free transfer as his contract at Middlesbrough runs into its final months.

The 34-year-old – who played alongside Gerrard for Liverpool and England – has not enjoyed the best campaign at the Riverside Stadium, scoring just two goals and providing one assist in the Championship.
And with Rangers already boasting a large group of wingers – which Jordan Jones will be added to in the summer – it is probably no surprise that plenty of Gers supporters on social media have warned Gerrard that they do not want Downing.

He is likely to demand decent wages, and the fans feel that that money would be better off being spent on other areas of the squad.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to the reports…
