Rangers will be in the market for new signings this summer as manager Pedro Caixinha looks to mould his squad – and a new midfielder appears to be a priority.
Current starters Jon Toral and Emerson Hyndman are only on loan from Arsenal and Bournemouth respectively, whilst Jordan Rossiter and Niko Kranjcar have been ravaged by injury this season.
Add in that Joey Barton was released after just eight appearances and Matt Crooks was sent on loan to Scunthorpe United, and it becomes clear that central midfield is a key area for new boss Caixinha to strengthen.
Now, The Scottish Sun report that Rangers are interested in snapping up Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean, in a deal that would allegedly cost the Gers seven figures.

McLean, 25, joined Aberdeen in February 2015 having hit 24 goals in 152 games for St Mirren, and he has continued to impress in his two years at Pittodrie.
The midfielder has now notched 14 goals in 105 games for the Dons, whilst also winning his first ever cap for the Scotland national team, becoming one of the top midfielders in the Scottish Premiership.

After the rumours of Rangers’ interest broke, fans took to Twitter to largely back the move, claiming that McLean would not only add real quality to the Rangers midfield, but would also be a strong character to add given that he’s a boyhood Rangers fan.
Whilst most are delighted with the speculation, other fans would prefer to see a player such as Norwich City’s Graham Dorrans arrive over the summer, with supporters seemingly aware that midfield is a real priority for Caixinha.
