Rangers are reportedly looking to bring Bruno Alves to Ibrox this summer.
Bruno Alves celebrates
Rangers will be in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer, and The Express report that the Gers are keen on Cagliari veteran Bruno Alves.
Whilst Rangers kept four clean sheets in the first five games under new manager Pedro Caixinha, conceding just one goal in that run, last weekend’s 5-1 defeat to Celtic has shown that the Rangers defence still needs some work.
With Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos both out of contract this summer, Rangers may want to bring in a veteran centre back – and The Express believe that Bruno Alves is a target for compatriot Caixinha.
The Portuguese international, 35, helped his country with Euro 2016 last summer, and is currently playing in Italy with Cagliari, where he has made a total of 34 Serie A appearances despite his advancing years.

Alves is a vastly experienced centre back having made his name with Porto, Zenit St. Petersburg and Fenerbahce, whilst he also has 89 caps for Portugal, establishing himself as an important player for his country over the last ten years.
A strong and aggressive centre back, Alves could bring leadership and determination to the Rangers defence, with Caixinha allegedly hoping to land Alves with the help of former Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes.

As a recognisable name, rumours of a move for Alves have struck up plenty of reaction from Rangers fans, with many believing that he would be a good signing for the club, suggesting that he has the mentality to play for a club like Rangers.
Many want to see Alves come in and take charge of the Rangers defence, and whilst some have concerns over his age, the general consensus is that Alves would be a strong addition to Caixinha’s side this summer.
