Rangers are set to offer a pre-contract agreement to Aberdeen midfielder Ryan Jack, according to report from The Scottish Sun.

The Gers will be keen to add new faces to their squad after a disappointing season, with new manager Pedro Caixinha facing the unenviable task of re-tooling his side with the goal of catching Celtic.

After a 3-0 win over Aberdeen, confidence at Ibrox is high, and it seems that Rangers are now planning to raid Aberdeen in a move that could anger Dons fans.

The Scottish Sun report that Rangers want to sign Ryan Jack on a pre-contract agreement, with Caixinha allegedly sanctioning a deal for the Aberdeen midfielder.

Jack, 25, has come up through the ranks with his hometown club, and currently serves as their captain, but his contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he can walk away for free having failed to agree a new contract.

Jack, primarily a holding midfielder, has racked up almost 250 appearances for Aberdeen, and talk of a shock move to Ibrox has stirred a reaction from Gers fans on Twitter.

Many supporters took to Twitter to claim that Jack would be the leader that Rangers need in midfield and would be a superb signing, with others simply wanting to sign Jack as he’s the captain of a direct rival, and can join for free.

Others aren’t quite so sure that Jack is the quality of player that Rangers need, believing Caixinha and the Gers should be setting their sights higher than Jack.
