Lee Hodson was a surprise inclusion in the Glasgow Rangers side, but it was a disappointing afternoon for the Ibrox side.
It took one day for Graeme Murty’s bubble to be burst following Friday’s news that he has been appointed as Rangers’ manager until the end of the season, as Kilmarnock came from behind to beat the Gers 2-1 at Rugby Park, and unsurprisingly, a number of the away side came in for criticism from their own supporters on Twitter.
Despite losing last time out, Rangers would have felt some positivity heading into the game after Murty’s appointment until the summer provided some clarity to the manager situation at Ibrox.
And while they were not at their best, it looked as though they may be about to get back to winning ways as Declan John – who was pushed forward, with Lee Hodson playing at left-back – gave them the lead at half-time.
However, former Gers striker Kris Boyd went on to score twice in the second-half to turn the game on its head and leave Murty’s men going into Christmas off the back of two defeats.
Plenty of Rangers supporters took to Twitter after the game to slam a number of the players, and no player seemed to receive more criticism than Hodson – who should perhaps take some of the blame for Killie’s equaliser as he showed little intent to try and stop the cross that allowed Boyd to score.
Some fans have suggested that Hodson should not play for the side again, while one suggested that they would have rather seen Myles Beerman – who, unlike his teammate, is naturally a left-back – given a chance instead of the Northern Ireland international.
