Rangers midfielder Lassana Coulibaly faces a struggled to be back for the weekend, says manager Steven Gerrard.

Rangers midfielder Lassana Coulibaly missed Thursday evening’s Europa League win over FC Ufa with injury.

Coulibaly is also involved in a struggle to return in time for Rangers’ next fixture with Motherwell on Sunday.

The 12.15pm kick off could come too soon for the Rangers loanee.

Manager Steven Gerrard said this morning that Coulibaly is unlikely to recover in time to feature this weekend.

Coulibaly arrived at Rangers as an unknown but has quickly become a fan favourite with his performances in midfield.

He scored a crucial goal against Maribor in the previous Europa League qualifying round, but has since struggled with an injury.

Rangers fans are desperate to see him return, and if Motherwell is too soon, a comeback in time for the Celtic game is seen as a must.

The fact Gerrard has said Coulibaly is still ‘wait and see’ for this weekend suggests he is likely to be fit for the Celtic game.
