Rangers have a stacked midfield at the moment, but they are still being linked with another addition to Steven Gerrard’s engine room.

The Gers added Bongani Zungu on deadline day in October, and he is now attempting to push for first-team football at Ibrox.

Gerrard also has Steven Davis, Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo and Scott Arfield though, so Zungu has his work cut out.

It’s therefore something of a surprise that The Scottish Sun claim Rangers are keen to sign Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean.

The report states that Gerrard has been keeping tabs on McLean’s situation at Norwich, having started just four league games so far this season.

McLean, 28, is a boyhood Rangers fan who would surely love to finally turn out for his boyhood team, but he signed a new deal at Norwich in September.

Rangers are allegedly considering a straight cash bid or a loan-to-buy offer, and Gers fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumours.

Some believe that McLean wouldn’t get in the Rangers team right now, possibly not even the bench given the midfield options at Gerrard’s disposal.

Others believe that McLean would be a top addition and want to see him sign in January, especially with Davis now well into his 30’s.
