Glasgow Rangers fans were surprised to see Jordan Rossiter feature.

Rangers had high hopes for Jordan Rossiter when the midfielder signed in 2016 and fans are not giving up on him.

The former Liverpool midfielder has barely played since signing due to a succession of injuries.

Yesterday he did manage to get onto the pitch, playing for Rangers’ development side in a friendly match against FC Copenhagen.

Rossiter played for 70 minutes in the 2-1 win, taking another step on the path to his recovery.

The 21-year-old has made only four appearances for the first team this season, two of which came in the ill-fated Europa League qualifiers.

He has not figured since September and there is no need for Rangers to rush him back, despite their low ebb after the 4-0 cup semi-final hammering.

The worst thing the Light Blues could do would be to make a kneejerk decision and rush him back, only for Rossiter to suffer another setback.

His development squad appearance is encouraging though, and fans want to see him given a chance in the first team when he is deemed to be ready.
