Aston Villa's Joleon Lescott goes off injured

Rangers fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the recent injury suffered by Joleon Lescott.

Lescott, who left Aston Villa to join AEK Athens in the summer transfer window, could be out of all action for six months.

The Scottish Sun quotes AEK doctor Lakis Nikolaou as saying that the defender needs an operation due to a detached cartilage.

Nikolaou has been quoted as saying that the 34-year-old will be on the sidelines for at least four weeks, with the doctor also suggesting that the Englishman could be out for six months.

“The doctor will do surgery and as soon as they remove the bone and the chips, it will be 4-6 weeks,” The Scottish Sun quotes Nikolaou as saying. “That is the good scenario, but the bad one is six months if you need cartilage transplantation. In that case, you will lose the whole season. But it is the surgeon’s judgement during arthroscopy.”

Rangers were interested in signing Lescott from English club Villa in the summer transfer window.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, the former West Bromwich Albion defender did not join the Glasgow giants due to family reasons.

It was reported that Rangers had offered the former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton defender a two-year contract.
