Glasgow Rangers midfielder Jason Holt scored as the Gers drew 1-1 with Kilmarnock at Ibrox.
Rangers fans have been reacting on Twitter to their hugely disappointing Scottish Premiership clash with Kilmarnock on Wednesday night. And while it was a poor result for the Gers, one player appeared to receive some praise on social media.
Pedro Caixinha would have been desperate to see a reaction from his players following their Scottish League Cup semi-final defeat to Motherwell at Hampden Park at the weekend.
And it appeared that the Portuguese – who was sitting in the stands after being reprimanded in the wake of the semi-final – was going to get some sort of reaction, with Jason Holt breaking the deadlock shortly before half-time with an emphatic finish following Alfredo Morelos’ lay-off.
However, the wheels came off in the final minutes of the match as Rangers were awarded a penalty, saw Ryan Jack sent off as the spot-kick was about to be taken, then saw the penalty saved before Killie went down the other end and scored the equaliser – all in stoppage-time.
There appeared to be very little reason for positivity on social media for the Gers fans, but Holt was praised after another impressive performance that comes just a few weeks after he seemed to be right on the periphery of the squad as he awaited his first top flight appearance of the season.
Other fans however, feel that Holt being the best Rangers player on the pitch is a worrying sign as they are still not convinced by the 24-year-old, and his performance looking so solid arguably says more about the rest of the team.
