Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have been linked with a move for Birmingham City’s James Vaughan.
According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are stepping up their interest in signing Huddersfield Town striker James Vaughan.
The report suggests that Rangers assistant David Weir – his former team-mate at Everton – has recommended him to manager Mark Warburton.
Vaughan is at Birmingham City on a one-year deal following a loan from Huddersfield but, having failed to score in 16 Championship and FA Cup outings last season, City manager Gary Rowett might be willing to move him on.
The speculation has not gone down well with Rangers fans on Twitter, however.
Rangers certainly need a new striker but it remains to be seen if Vaughan is the man.
They have Martyn Waghorn, who should be their go-to-guy once again when it comes to goals next season, but a 36-year-old Kenny Miller is his main competition.
Miller is a Scottish Premiership legend, and he still knows where the goal is as he demonstrated by reaching the 20-goal barrier in all competitions last season, but long term the Rangers boss might need to prepare for life after the veteran hitman.
