Rangers got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, as they beat Dundee 4-0 at Ibrox to go back up to second place in the Scottish Premiership table.
The Gers had picked up just one point in their previous three games as Graeme Murty’s chances of landing the job permanently took a major hit, meaning a win over Dundee was imperative.
Rangers weren’t quite at their best in the first half against Dundee, but Kenny Miller put the Gers in front on 39 minutes, as a mazy run from Jamie Murphy ended with the veteran striker smashing home the opener.
Murty’s men extended their lead in the second half when Daniel Candeias crossed for Alfredo Morelos to tap home from close range, before hesitant defending from Genseric Kusunga handed Jamie Murphy a simple goal.
Candeias added Rangers’ fourth late on to seal a convincing victory, and set up Rangers well for next weekend’s Old Firm derby against Celtic, with the sides meeting in the Scottish Cup semi-finals.
One player who is in contention to feature in that game is midfielder Graham Dorrans, who came through his second 90 minutes of the week having spent five months out of action with injury.
The Scottish midfielder was a major summer signing from Norwich City, but some fans are concerned about the 30-year-old after his performance against Dundee.
Some took to Twitter to suggest that Dorrans’ legs have gone and he was invisible, though urged Murty to use him as a number 10 rather than as a deep midfielder, highlighting that he was much better when pushed forward.
