Rangers star Borna Barisic will not feature for the Gers in this weekend’s Old Firm clash.

Borna Barisic of Rangers looks on prior to the Ladbrookes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and St Johnstone at Ibrox Stadium on February 16, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers will be without left-back Borna Barisic against rivals Celtic.

Barisic picked up an injury while on international duty with Croatia.

He will now be unavailable for manager Steven Gerrard this weekend.

He is quoted by STV: “I will miss at least two weeks. Unfortunately, I still have to skip the big derby with Celtic.

“It’s not my first time to skip the biggest match in Scotland, but now I have to focus on recover.”

Barisic missed Rangers’ victory over Celtic at the end of December with Andy Halliday replacing him.

Halliday is again expected to replace Barisic at left-back.

Barisic’s form has been mixed in 2019 and Halliday has done so well that it is debatable whether this is really a blow for Rangers.

Some fans are frustrated by Barisic’s fitness problems and would not even mind if they club cut their losses in the summer.
