Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers lost a potential gem back in May.
Billy Gilmour raised eyebrows in May when he left Rangers for Chelsea at the age of 15.
But fast forward a few months and those who suggested that Gilmour joined the Premier League giants too young might reconsider their initial opinion.
Now 16, the talented Scot scored twice on his debut – and managed one assist – for the Blues’ Under-23 team against Southend United on Saturday and it certainly seems like he is enjoying life in London.
Rangers received a “significant sum” for the teenager, and fans of the Ibrox club are, for the most part, happy to see their former youth talent showcasing his abilities.
Of course, scoring twice against Southend for Chelsea’s development side does not mean he is destined to become a Scottish great, but it is a hugely encouraging sign.
He is still only 16 years of age and will get a lot better, which is good for Rangers because the Gers stand to pick up more money depending on how high he climbs.
