Rangers winger Barrie McKay has snubbed a new contract to stay with the club, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
McKay, 22, joined Rangers from Kilmarnock in 2011, and looked to be going nowhere fast after loan spells with Greenock Morton and Raith Rovers.
However, the appointment of Mark Warburton as Rangers manager in 2015 turned McKay’s career around, as he became a key player at Ibrox, scoring nine goals in 48 appearances as the Gers won promotion to the top flight.
McKay hasn’t quite hit those heights this season, notching just four goals in 40 appearances in all competitions, but that didn’t stop RB Leipzig from registering an interest in his signature, according to the Daily Record in January.
With just over a left on his contract at Ibrox, McKay’s future is up in the air – especially after he rejected a new contract to stay with the club, according to the Daily Mail.
It’s stated that McKay was offered an extension until 2020 along with a pay rise, but he has snubbed the offer, throwing his future into doubt given that Rangers have now shelved talks until the summer.

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to offer their reaction to the news, with supporters divided. Some believe that McKay still has huge potential and should be a key player for Rangers moving forward, but others think that he is too inconsistent, and wouldn’t be a huge miss if he was sold.
Some noted that McKay hasn’t impressed since Warburton left his post as Rangers boss, with predictions that the winger will head to Nottingham Forest to reunite with Warburton this summer made by Rangers fans.
