Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has retired from international football.

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has announced he is quitting international football.
McGregor’s decision was announced via the Scottish FA.
The veteran re-signed with Rangers last summer, six years after leaving Ibrox.
McGregor told the Scottish FA’s website: “It’s a sad day for me to bring an end to my international career, but unfortunately I feel it is a decision I have to make.
“I am playing over 50 games each season, but I know my body and at this stage of my career I need to use the international breaks to rest up to help ensure that I play at the top level for as long as possible.”

The decision may not be the best for Scotland in the short-term, but it does allow them to try and find a long term solution in goal moving forward.
The biggest beneficiaries are Rangers.
McGregor turned 37 earlier this year, and calling times on his international career can prolong his club spell.
He is still hoping to end this season with a trophy, with Rangers in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, and hoping for a late Celtic collapse in the league.
