Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has come under the spotlight once again following the Old Firm flash against Celtic.

Some Rangers supporters backed striker Alfredo Morelos after he sent a Twitter message apologising for his sending off during the Old Firm fixture against Celtic on Sunday.

The 22-year-old was sent his marching orders in the first half for elbowing opposition captain Scott Brown when the home team were leading 1-0.

Throughout the Scottish Premiership campaign, Morelos has come under fire for his off-the-ball incidents which has resulted in him seeing red on at least five occasions.

The incident at Parkhead, however, proved even more costly because his team ended up losing the encounter 2-1 despite being the best team during the second period.

But, he has since taken to his personal Twitter account to apologise to the club, the supporters, his teammates and the coaching staff:

There were some Gers fans who accepted his apology and advised him to do his talking on the field by putting the ball in the back of the net.

While another supporter stated that if he wants to show his aggression then he must do so by tackling his opponents in a hard, but fair manner.

But others were less pleasing and made it clear that the club have stuck by him for too long and they would look to sell him off in the summer.

There is no doubt that Morelos has been Rangers’ best player this season and he has arguably been the best performer in the Scottish Premiership.

But his off-the-ball incidents have cost his team who could have been closer to their rivals in the title race but are now 13 points behind.
