A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that the club confirmed on their official website that Robby McCrorie has left the Gers to join Queen of the South on a season-long loan.

McCrorie appeared to go into this pre-season with an outside chance of forcing his way into Steven Gerrard’s first-team plans at Ibrox having done well during a loan spell with Morton in the second-half of the last campaign.

While Allan McGregor looks set to remain the undisputed number one, it appeared that there could be an opportunity for McCrorie to push himself up the pecking order, especially as it would be no surprise to see both Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick seek more game-time.

But it appears that at least one of the goalkeepers will be sticking around – along with Andy Firth – with the club confirming on their official website that McCrorie has left to join Queen of the South for the season.

The news has actually received a mixed reaction on social media. There are plenty of Rangers fans who are pleased that the youngster is going to get the chance to potentially play regularly as they believe that he has the potential to be the one who takes the gloves from McGregor in the future.

There are some however, who believe that he is ready to be McGregor’s main understudy now and should be kept around. There are also some Rangers supporters who feel that he should be playing at a higher level having already proven himself in the second tier.
