Rangers’ approach for Derek McInnes has been denied.

After weeks of speculation, Rangers finally made their approach for Derek McInnes last night.
Rangers have been without a permanent manager since Pedro Caixinha was fired in October.

Graeme Murty has been in temporary charge and recently led Rangers to two wins over McInnes’ Aberdeen.
Rangers could now hope McInnes attempts to force the issue behind the scenes, or return with an improved financial package for their former player.

The situation is hugely frustrating for Rangers fans, who have been worried about the lack of an evident plan from the club’s board.
It seems odd that Rangers have waited this long to reach out for McInnes, although it is possible that only now they have had some encouragement behind the scenes.
Rangers fans have reacted to the developments, with some accusing Aberdeen of ‘holding him hostage’, and others feeling their own club has been embarrassing in the whole saga so far…
