Rangers fans have been reacting on Twitter after digesting the news that the club announced in a statement on their official website that Joey Barton has been suspended for three weeks following last week’s training ground incident.
The 34-year-old was banished from Murray Park after an altercation involving teammate Andy Halliday, Sky Sports reports, that occurred in the wake of the Gers’ 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Celtic in the first Old Firm meeting of the season.

The Guardian reports that the former Burnley star returned to the Scottish Premiership side on Monday morning for a meeting with manager Mark Warburton, seemingly to discuss what happens next following the incident.
But the Light Blues have now confirmed on their official website that he will be suspended and will not return for three weeks, and insisted that neither the player or the club will comment on the decision.
After Warburton tried to avoid talking about the incident (via BBC Sport), some may be wondering whether Barton’s interview with Talksport may have contributed to the length of the suspension.
Given the one-time England international’s colourful past, many fans have not been shocked to find Barton has done something serious enough to be handed such a severe suspension so early into his Ibrox career.

But he is not the only one who has received criticism from supporters on social media. Warburton – the man who brought Barton to the club – has also been slated for his handling of the situation.
