Just before Scotland’s midnight transfer deadline passed, Aberdeen managed to seal the late signing of Dominic Ball.

Ball joins on loan from Rotherham United for the season after a disappointing 12 months with the Millers.

The centre-back was previously under contract to Tottenham Hotspur, and had spent the 2015/16 season loan in Scotland with Glasgow Rangers.

He was an effective player for Mark Warburton’s side, featuring in both defence and midfield, and starred in the semi-final win over Celtic.

Rangers had been keen to re-sign him last summer but he chose to try his luck in England instead.

Now he is back in Scotland and will test himself in the top flight for the first time.

The 22-year-old former England youth international may wish at this point he had stayed at Rangers, but the Gers have moved on now anyway under Pedro Caixinha.

Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso look to be shrewd additions at the back for the Light Blues, but some supporters are still a little annoyed to see Ball sign with Aberdeen.
