Another viable managerial candidate, Alan Pardew, has slipped through Rangers’ grasp with West Brom announcing him as their new manager.

West Brom sacked Tony Pulis three weeks after Pedro Caixinha departed Ibrox for the last time. But while The Baggies already have a new manager in place, confirming the appointment of Alan Pardew on Wednesday, Rangers unbelievably appear no closer to finding a replacement for their axed Portuguese coach.
And the frustration around Ibrox could have been exacerbated by the fact that Pardew had only recently been linked with the vacant managerial position in Glasgow.
The Scottish Sun claimed that Pardew’s representatives had been in touch with Rangers, enquiring about whether they would consider hiring the 56-year-old as Caixinha’s successor.

While Pardew is not a ‘Rangers man’ having never played for the club during his days on the pitch, he ticked the boxes for the board in the sense that he is a British manager who has plenty of contacts up and down the Isles.
Pardew is a divisive character more readily remembered for his touchline jigs or headbutting rival players than his tactical acumen. Though he is still a respected and proven manager who has worked wonders at times during spells at West Ham, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.

But, in a fortunate turn of events that will save the Rangers board from too much criticism, it seems that Pardew would not have been the most popular appointment.
While fans want to see a new man in the dugout soon, West Brom appear welcome to this smooth-talking tactician.
