Sky Sports report that Burnley ace Scott Arfield is close to signing for Rangers on a pre-contract agreement, with the midfielder’s contract at Turf Moor set to expire this summer.
Arfield, 29, was born in Scotland and started out with Falkirk before heading to Huddersfield Town and eventually Burnley, where he has been a regular under Sean Dyche until this season.
The Canadian international hasn’t quite played as regularly this season though, and he is now nearing a deal with Rangers as he prepares to make a return to Scotland.
Capable of playing out wide or in central midfield, Arfield is a talented and hard-working midfielder who will add quality to the Rangers side, and fans have taken to Twitter to offer their views on the deal.
Many believe Arfield is a great signing and a smart piece of business, praising Allen for making a ‘massive statement’, though some are concerned about his age, and believe the focus should be on landing a new manager or new centre backs before another midfielder.
