Hardie has signed a new deal at Rangers, but will return to Livi on loan.
Rangers have confirmed on their official Twitter account that Ryan Hardie has returned to Scottish Premiership side Livingston on loan until the end of the season – and Gers fans have reacted on Twitter.
Hardie, 21, has signed a one-year contract extension with the Teddy Bears in a move that will keep him at Ibrox until the summer of 2020. Hardie had previously been in the final months of his contract, which expired in June.
Upon signing the extension to remain at Ibrox, the Scotland youth international has returned to Gary Holt’s Livingston where he has spent the last 12 months. He played a crucial part in helping Livi get promoted, scoring eight in 17 games.
This season, Hardie has finally overcome injury to score five Scottish Premiership goals in seven games including a brace against Hearts in December. Rangers posted on Twitter that he had signed a new deal, and will return to Livingston.
Hardie has managed 17 senior appearances for the Gers since his debut back in March 2015 as an 18-year-old, which saw Stuart McCall throw the striker on as a substitute in a 4-1 win over Friday’s opponents Cowdenbeath.
The striker has scored two goals for the Gers, as well as going on loan to Raith Rovers and St. Mirren. Light Blues fans reacted to the news that he would be returning to Livi on loan, with some supporters confused by the deal.
