Rangers fans react as Ryan Hardie marks return with goal

Several Glasgow Rangers fans have been discussing whether the Gers need to bring the striker back to Ibrox in January.

With his Rangers contract expiring at the end of the season, Ryan Hardie would have been forgiven for feeling the pressure of knowing that he needs to hit the ground running upon his return from injury.

Hardie’s potential has rarely been questioned, but he surely needs to repeat his form from his loan spell last season if he wishes to earn a contract extension at Ibrox and push towards finally getting a prolonged first-team chance with the Gers.

And while he has a long way to go before he is forcing Steven Gerrard’s hand, he has made an excellent start following his return to fitness out on loan with Livingston.

He marked his first start of the season at the weekend with Livi’s second as they beat St Mirren 3-1. It was a well-taken finish from the 21-year-old as he brushed the ball into the roof of the net after some patient build-up play from the home side.

With Rangers failing to beat Dundee the following day, several Gers fans have suggested that Gerrard should seriously consider bringing the youngster back in January.

The Light Blues are struggling to look a threat when Alfredo Morelos is unavailable. And with Gerrard not picking a striker on the bench at Dens Park, some feel that Hardie could do a job after his goal.
