Rangers started the new Scottish Premiership season perfectly, beating Livingston 3-0 at Ibrox before seeing Celtic lose to Hearts – and Martyn Waghorn loved it.
The Gers came into the new season as champions, and with fans back in stadiums again, there was a real celebratory atmosphere at Ibrox for the visit of Livingston.
Rangers coasted to a win with Ianis Hagi opening the scoring before Scott Wright and Kemar Roofe added strikes in the second half, securing a 3-0 win.
Steven Gerrard may have opened the campaign with a win, but Ange Postecoglou wasn’t quite so fortunate at Celtic.
The Bhoys headed to Edinburgh to take on Hearts at Tynecastle, and fell behind early with Gary Mackay-Steven scoring from close range.
Anthony Ralston did equalise for Celtic with a surprise goal, only for John Souttar to head in a late winner for Hearts, condemning Postecoglou to defeat.
Rangers are already a game ahead of Celtic, and ex-Gers striker Martyn Waghorn took to Twitter to post just two words – ‘good day’, accompanied with a Great British flag.
Waghorn was seemingly referring to Rangers’ win as well as Celtic’s defeat, and Gers fans responded by calling the striker a ‘hero’, telling him that he will always be a Rangers man even long after leaving Ibrox.
