Holt has joined former Rangers midfielder Joey Barton at Fleetwood on a season-long loan.

Jason Holt scored his first goal for Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup since joining the English League One side on a season-long loan from Rangers – and a handful fans applauded the midfielder.
Holt, 25, came off the bench during Fleetwood’s penalty-shootout win over Crewe at half-time, to score a screamer just six minutes after the restart and put Barton’s side back on level terms.
The midfielder’s heroics did not stop there, as he then stood up to take a penalty and score past the Crewe goalkeeper to help Fleetwood edge past Crewe and into the hat for the second round of the competition.
Holt was missing from Barton’s first match as a manager, as Fleetwood lost 1-0 to AFC Wimbledon, but he returned to play 90 minutes on Saturday as The Trawlermen disposed of Oxford United 2-0.
The former Sheffield United and Hearts midfielder joined Fleetwood on loan after Steven Gerrard informed the uncapped Scotsman that he would struggle to break his way into the side.

Gerrard has since signed Lassana Coulibaly, Scott Arfield and Ovie Ejaria to play in the middle of the park, meaning Holt would be sat on the sidelines if he remained at Rangers.
A handful of Rangers fans reacted to Holt’s goal on Twitter, with supporters ==delighted to see the midfielder shining in red and white. One Rangers fan Tweeted his goal had: “made my day”.
