Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier scored a stunning goal, but his Ibrox teammate also caught the eye.

A number of Rangers fans took to Twitter to react to a training ground video that was posted by Gers defender James Tavernier which shows the right-back scoring a stunning volley during their trip to Spain.

The Light Blues are gearing up for their first season under Steven Gerrard and will be hoping that they can put the last two underwhelming campaigns behind them and perhaps end the club’s wait for a serious title challenge in the Scottish Premiership.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Gerrard has wasted little time making changes to his squad, and perhaps surprisingly, one of the positions that he has added depth to is in Tavernier’s spot at right-back, with Jon Flanagan arriving on a free transfer following his release from Liverpool.

And while Gerrard may be unlikely to make a decision on who will be his first-choice right-back next season based on what happens in Spain, Tavernier perhaps sent the new Rangers boss a message with a superb volley in one of the drills.

Jordan Rossiter of Rangers during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Hamilton Academical at Ibrox Stadium on August 6, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.

The former Wigan ace has shown during his time at Ibrox that he is not afraid to get forward and contribute in attack, so it may surprise few that he is capable of such a strike. Nevertheless, he received a lot of praise for the goal on social media after he posted a clip.

But it was not only Tavernier who was lauded by the Ibrox faithful. The ball into the defender comes from an exquisite outside of the foot pass from Jordan Rossiter. The midfielder’s injury record has often left him as the forgotten man during his time with Rangers, but moments of class like the pass help remind the fans why it could be well worth keeping faith with the youngster who has often been compared with his new boss during his short career.
