The Rangers winger seems to have fallen out of Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox plans.

Rangers Glasgow's Glenn Middleton celebrates scoring in the 2018

Glenn Middleton’s ongoing absence from Steven Gerrard’s plans is continuing to baffle some Rangers fans.

Middleton has played 27 times in a breakthrough campaign for him at first-team level, although just twice this calendar year.

And the winger’s chances of featuring in Rangers’ game against Hearts on Wednesday appear slim, after his appearance for the Gers’ Under-20s on Tuesday.

It was he who scored the winner against Queens Park, albeit from the penalty spot, to set up a Glasgow Cup final tie with Celtic.

This is how those of a Rangers persuasion have had to say about Middleton afterwards…

Ryan Kent is free to face Hearts after Rangers chose to contest his ban for shoving Scott Brown during Steven Gerrard’s side’s Old Firm defeat on Sunday.

A hearing will now take place on Thursday, the outcome of which could yet have an impact on Middleton’s first-team prospects for the remainder of the campaign.

Ryan Kent of Rangers celebrates after he scores during The Ladbrokes Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on March 31, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Daniel Candeias and Eros Grezda are Rangers’ only other senior options in Kent’s position.

Is Middleton due a Rangers recall?
