Fraser Aird
Rangers and Scotland fans have been reacting on Twitter to Fraser Aird’s impressive display in Canada’s 1-1 draw with Gordon Strachan’s men at Easter Road on Wednesday night.
Aird is certainly no stranger to Gers supporters, or Scotland fans for that matter. The right-back was born in Toronto, but joined the Light Blues in 2011 and represented the Scottish national team at a couple of youth levels.
The defender would spend around six years on the books at Ibrox, and would actually receive plenty of chances in the first-team, making 85 appearances in all competitions across three divisions.
He fell out of favour under Mark Warburton and moved to Vancouver Whitecaps on loan for the 2016 MLS season before joining Falkirk permanently joining the January transfer window.
While many of the Scotland fans did not go over the top in their praise for Aird – Strachan’s men were fairly poor on a night when they would have expected to win comfortably going into their World Cup qualifier at the weekend – he was arguably the one player on the pitch whose reputation was significantly enhanced following the game.

He looked lively all evening and caused former Gers teammate Lee Wallace a host of problems down Scotland’s left side, and of course, it was Aird’s smart finish that handed Canada the lead early on in the first-half.
And many Rangers fans have expressed some kind of disbelief, either at the fact that they had not seen such an enterprising performance from him for a long time or because the Gers actually let him go.
Here is the best of the reaction…
