The young Rangers forward Dapo Mebude did his first team chances no harm with two goals for the Ibrox side’s Under-20s on Monday.

Mebude was one of four different goalscorers – alongside Andrew Dallas, Stephen Kelly and Liam Burt, who also bagged twice – as Rangers’ kids beat Partick Thistle 6-1 in the City of Glasgow Cup.

His latest impressive showing comes less than three weeks since he was spotted training with Steven Gerrard’s senior side, ahead of the 4-3 defeat against Spartak Moscow.

And with Mebude’s teammate and friend Serge Atakayi currently recovering from surgery, there could be another spot open to the 17-year-old, who has yet to make his first team debut, these coming few weeks.

That’s certainly the view of the following Rangers supporters on Twitter.

This is what they’re saying…

Mebude signed his first professional contract at Rangers shortly before his 16th birthday last year, although it is understood to expire at the end of the current season.

Does Rangers’ Dapo Mebude deserve a call up from Steven Gerrard?
