Rangers fans react as Billy Gilmour pens pro deal at Chelsea

A number of Glasgow Rangers fans were delighted to see the former Ibrox starlet sign a professional deal with the Premier League side.

A number of Rangers fans took to Twitter to express their delight for Billy Gilmour after the youngster confirmed that he has signed his first professional contract with Chelsea one year after leaving Ibrox for the Premier League side.

Gilmour is certainly proving to be the player to keep an eye on in a Chelsea academy that boasts an incredible amount of talent all over the pitch. His potential was shining through during his time with the Gers, and it appeared that keeping him last summer would have been one of the best pieces of business that the Scottish Premiership side could have done.

Unfortunately for Rangers however, Gilmour decided to make the move to Stamford Bridge, and he has certainly had little problem making the grade with the Blues.

The 17-year-old played a crucial role in helping Chelsea to their FA Youth Cup, U18 Premier League and U18 Premier League Cup successes. He also starred at the Toulon Tournament to help Scotland finish fourth.

And he has been rewarded for his success by being handed his first professional deal with the club around a year after making the move away from Rangers.

And after signing the deal, Gilmour took to social media to express his delight at putting pen to paper.

While Gilmour may no longer be a Rangers player, it is not difficult to see how much pride the Ibrox faithful take from seeing the playmaker notch up regular achievements with his new club. And the response to his new contract suggests that the Gers fans are perhaps more excited about his future right now than the Chelsea supporters who are yet to see the youngster in action.
