Rangers midfielder Jamie Barjonas has agreed a two-year extension with the Scottish giants.
Rangers have confirmed on their official website that teenage midfielder Jamie Barjonas has put pen to paper on a new two-year extension at Ibrox – and fans are seemingly delighted on Twitter with the news.
The 18-year-old has signed a new deal after his previous contract was set to expire at the end of May, which would have allowed non-Scottish clubs to have tried to sign him under the bosman ruling on January 1.
However, Barjonas has been handed a new contract which will now see him contract to the Scottish giants until the summer of 2020, as he continues to shine in Rangers’ first team.
Rangers’ number 35 has now clocked up six senior appearances for the Gers, with interim boss Graeme Murty giving him a chance to shine as a substitute against Hearts before being an unused sub on Saturday against Partick Thistle.
Barjonas is now the second young player to sign a new deal with Rangers, after defender Aidan Wilson signed on the dotted line last week to extend his stay at Auchenhowie until June 2020.
Rangers fans reacted on Twitter to the news that Barjonas had been handed a new contract, with one fan jokingly claiming that the youngster is now “worth about £50million”.
