Could Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers be about to make a move for Aitor Karanka?

Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment after Aitor Karanka surged into the 6/1 second favourite on Sky Bet to become Pedro Caixinha’s successor at Ibrox.
It has been more than a month since the Gers had a permanent manager in place, with the Portuguese being sacked after their Scottish Premiership draw with Kilmarnock in October.

It seems that most names who could possibly be available have been linked with the post at some stage, but there has been an interesting twist in the betting market, with Sky Bet now listing Karanka at 6/1 – and at one stage listing him at 3/1 – despite the Spaniard barely featuring amongst the bookies’ contenders since the market opened.
Given how many managers have been linked, it is no surprise that the Gers fans who have taken to social media are refusing to get too carried away with the links – but it appears that they would generally be pleased if the Spaniard did end up getting the job.

Karanka did a good job during his time at Middlesbrough, taking them to the Premier League in his final full season at the Riverside Stadium, so he may be a decent appointment if he looks at the Ibrox job as something he can build with.
So while it seems that the Light Blues fans may not be getting too carried away until there are actual links rather than just interesting odds, it seems that if Karanka did get the job, there would be some support for him.
Here is the best of the reaction…
