Rangers have allowed winger Daniel Candeias to leave Ibrox.
Rangers have been busy bringing players in this summer, but now it’s time for some players to leave Ibrox ahead of the new season.
The Gers have landed eight signings this summer, and Steven Gerrard is subsequently looking to trim his squad – especially out wide.
Gerrard landed right-sided duo Sheyi Ojo and Jake Hastie this summer, putting Daniel Candeias’s future under threat, particularly after he was left out of the Europa League squad to face St Joseph’s.
The Portuguese wide man may have hit back with a fine display against Marseille at Ibrox, but Gerrard has now let him go, selling him to Turkish side Genclerbirligi.
The 31-year-old completed his move on Monday, and reports have been breaking since last night about just how much Rangers got for the wide man.
Remarkably, The Scottish Sun and The Daily Record claim that just £250,000 has been paid for Candeias, less than half of what Rangers paid to sign him from Benfica two years ago.
That’s a major shock, even in his 30’s and with one year left on his contract, having racked up 14 goals and 25 assists during his two seasons at Ibrox.
Rangers fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the reports, suggesting that just £250,000 for Candeias is ‘ridiculous’ whilst hoping that the Gers surely haven’t agreed to such a deal, believing he’s an absolute steal for Genclerbirligi and the deal should be questioned at such a low price.
