The Rangers goalkeeper appears to have had his number changed by the Ibrox boss, Steven Gerrard.

Rangers fans are reacting after the Gers brought their number 12 shirt out of retirement on the sly.
Last worn by Lee Wallace in 2011/12, the shirt was withdrawn thereafter as a tribute to the Rangers fans who continued to support their side after demotion to the fourth tier.
But it will be worn by Andy Firth for the forthcoming campaign, that’s if the Rangers goalkeeper’s Instagram story is anything to go by.
After being handed the shirt for Rangers’ Europa League qualifier against St Joseph’s in midweek, Firth added the following post to his Instagram ‘story’.
Rangers have yet to formally announce their 2018/19 squad numbers, or even confirm that ’12’ is back in use.
But it seems unlikely that Firth’s will change now.
And Gers fans appear to be split on the issue…

Of all players to give the number 12 shirt to we give it to Andy ******* Firth ffs
Can’t believe we retired the number 12 jersey for 7 years to then give it to Andy ******* Firth

Forgot we ever did it, and I thought we’d binned the idea. Goes to show it never meant much to me.

100% agreed. A time in history I would quite like to forget. Do we really want to be telling grandchildren in 30/40 years that number 12 was retired for fans by Charles Green?

Fans being the 12th Man .. didnt even realise that’s a thing. . and given most of the season the fans in stadium do nothing but moan and groan… Firth will be a good no.12
Firth only joined Rangers in January from AFC Barrow, reuniting with his former Liverpool colleague, Steven Gerrard, at Ibrox.
The Yorkshireman wore 32 in his first season at Rangers, but his old shirt has since passed on to Jake Hastie.
