Rangers drew 3-3 away at Motherwell this afternoon.
Rangers twice came from behind but then could only draw at Motherwell in a topsy-turvy encounter at Fir Park this afternoon.
The Gers were back in league action today having beaten Ufa 1-0 in their Europa League qualifying clash on Thursday night, and they played out an incredible game against Motherwell.
An early slip from Connor Goldson allowed Danny Johnson to lob Allan McGregor to put Motherwell into the lead, only for Kyle Lafferty’s deflected strike to bring Rangers level.
Rangers fell behind again though as Carl McHugh headed home at the back post from a Gael Bigirimana free kick, with Lafferty bagging a second goal on his second full debut for Rangers, heading home James Tavernier’s cross.
Borna Barisic set up Ovie Ejaria’s to finally put Rangers in front, and after battling through the second half, Rangers fell with virtually the last kick as Peter Hartley headed home a dramatic equaliser in added time.
Rangers will be gutted to have worked so hard to get in front before ultimately leaving Fir Park with just a point, but one man who has earned huge praise is left back Barisic.
A £1.5million signing from Europa League opponents Osijek, Barisic starred against Motherwell as his superb crossing and vision helped Rangers cause all sorts of problems in the first half.
The left back was hailed on Twitter by fans, with some hailing a ‘daylight robbery’ from director of football Mark Allen and manager Steven Gerrard regarding the fee paid for the ‘tremendous’ and ‘quality’ Barisic, with others joking that he is the new Roberto Carlos and urging Rangers to find a right-footed Barisic to replace Tavernier.
