Hamilton’s Michael McGovern, who’s reportedly wanted by Mark Warburton at Ibrox, shone in Northern Ireland’s defeat to Germany.
McGovern pulls off one of a string of saves against the world champions
Northern Ireland goalkeeper Michael McGovern is the talk of the round, after an heroic display between the sticks against Germany. But in few places is his name more prevalent than the Blue half of Glasgow, where the Rangers fans reside.
With one custodian Maciej Gostomski already departed, and another one Cammy Bell set to join Dundee United this week (Courier), the Gers are in need of a new number 2, and have already been linked with the Hamilton shot-stopper’s services (Sunday Post).

At this rate, though, Wes Foderingham will be sleeping with one eye open, should McGovern – who began his career at Rangers’ Old Firm rivals Celtic – find himself Ibrox bound.
With his contract at New Douglas Park expiring at the end of this month, the 31-year-old will have his pick of the clubs if his current form continues beyond the group stage – with Northern Ireland’s progression sealed despite a 1-0 defeat.

However, if the Rangers fans get their wish, he’ll be linking up with Mark Warburton’s men before the summer is out – in spite of his Parkhead past.
Sadly, McGovern’s efforts weren’t enough
