Rangers fans on Twiter have provided mixed views on Aston Villa’s interest in Liverpool’s Ryan Kent, who thrived at Ibrox this season.

The Scottish Sun claimed recently that Rangers have been dealt a blow because Aston Villa are planning a £10 million swoop for the Liverpool academy product.

It is said that Kent is a player Rangers manager Steven Gerrard would ‘dream’ of re-signing as Villa have told Liverpool that they want their 22-year-old winger.

On Monday, Villa earned promotion to England’s top-flight when they beat Derby County 2-1 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley, with former Hibernian player John McGinn producing a Man of the Match display.

Given Villa’s interest, and now subsequent promotion, it doesn’t help Rangers’ cause or hopes that they may just land Kent once again this summer.

During the recently concluded season, he made a big difference to Gerrard’s side, with his direct running and pace out wide causing opposition defences a problem.

Only last season, Kent was on-loan at English Championship side Bristol City, but he struggled to prove his worth with Lee Johnson’s side.

He has since thrived at Ibrox and it remains to be seen where he will end up playing for the start of the next campaign. If the Gers can re-sign him then it’ll increase their chances of winning the Premiership next term.
